Putting the values of librarianship into practice continues to be a major focus in the current political and social climate in the United States. In this month’s Scholarly Communication col- umn, Michelle Baildon discusses “Extending the social justice mindset” to the scholarly pub- lishing world through reflections on a report generated by the MIT Library’s Diversity, Inclu- sion, and Social Justice Task Force. Focusing the values of librarianship glob- ally is the focus of the latest installment of our International Insights column. Patricia A. Wand explores “International service and cross-cultural engagement” through efforts to preserve and document the Peace Corps experience in a variety of libraries and other institutions. This issue’s Perspectives on the Framework column focuses on using the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy to create assessment plans. Kevin Baggett, Virginia Connell, and Allie Thome write about their efforts at Concordia College in their article “Frame by frame.” Also this month, Eric Shannon and Leslie Inglis write about their experiences “Teaching FYI” to students at Franklin Pierce University and Nick Faulk reports on the results of an investigation into “What faculty have to say about library outreach” in a community col- lege setting. Meggan Press of Indiana University- Bloomington reflects on how the language we use about our institutions can help cre- ate community in her The Way I See It essay “Words matter.” This month marks the publication of a special issue of our sister journal College & Research Libraries focusing on the strategic management of libraries. Editor Wendi Kaspar give a look at the issue in this month’s C&RL Spotlight column.
