P e o p l e i n t h e N e w sAnn-Christe Galloway Appointments Trisha Mileham has been named dean of the library at Valparaiso University. Mileham has been serving as the dean of the library in an interim capac- ity since April 2018. Mileham joined the Valparaiso faculty in 1998, was promoted to associate professor in 2004, and was granted tenure in 2005. In 2008, she was named direc- tor of research services, managing the team- based department that encompasses library instruction, reference, circulation, program- ming, and outreach services. Previously, she served as advisor for the exploratory major and has taught in the Valpo Core program. She also serves as a mentor for pre-tenure cohort librarians. In 2018, Mileham was se- lected to be a Library Senior Fellow at UCLA. This international cohort of 17 top manag- ers of academic libraries participated in a three-week residential program that com- bines management perspectives, strategic thinking, and practical and theoretical ap- proaches to the issues confronting academic institutions and their libraries. Gail Barton has joined Auburn University Libraries as head of the interlibrary loans/ document delivery department. Richard Cho has been appointed re- search librarian for humanities and literature at the University of California-Irvine Libraries. Jenna Dufour has been appointed re- search librarian for visual arts at the University of California-Irvine Libraries. Nicole Helregel has joined the Purchase College (SUNY) Library as the student suc- cess librarian. Deaths Wanda V. (Victoria) Dole, retired dean of the Ottenheimer Library at the University of Arkansas- Little Rock, has died. Dole held library positions at the University of Kentucky, the University of Illinois-Chicago, the University of Miami, Abing- ton College Library (Pennsylvania State Univer- sity), the State University of New York-Stony Brook, and Washburn University. Subsequent to her retirement, Dole was the interim director of library services at the Abraham Lincoln Presiden- tial Library and Museum in Springfield, Illinois. She held committee appointments with ALA for many years, including serving elected terms on ALA Council. She was also an official ALA rep- resentative to the International Federation of Li- brary Associations and Institutions (IFLA). In her role as chair of the IFLA Statistics Section, she served on the IFLA Governing Board and the IFLA Professional Committee. Dole was a highly regarded speaker and authored many publica- tions. Her areas of interest included strategic planning and assessment, as well as quantitative analysis of statistics. She spoke at many national and international conferences.
