P e o p l e i n t h e N e w sAnn-Christe Galloway Appointments John Jax has been ap- pointed director of Mur- phy Library at University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. He previously served as the collection develop- ment librarian at Murphy Library for the last 17 years. Kevin Mulroy, former A. J. McFadden Dean of The Claremont Colleges Library, has been named college librarian at Occidental Col- lege, effective July 1. While at Claremont (2013–18), Mulroy oversaw strategic and mas- ter planning efforts that led to substantial im- provements to the organization’s operations, information technology, resources, services, and facilities. Mulroy also served as lead dean of the intercollegiate Digital Humanities pro- gram. The library became recognized as the academic center of the consortium. Before joining Claremont, Mulroy served as associ- ate university librarian for academic services at UCLA (2008–13), associate executive direc- tor of research collections and services and assistant dean for contracts and grants at the USC Libraries (2001–08), and director of the Research Center at the Autry Museum of Western Heritage (1993–2001). Clara Ogbaa has been named director of li- brary services at Southern Connecticut State University’s Hilton C. Buley Library in New Ha- ven, Connecticut. She previously served as the library director of Gateway Community Col- lege (2008–18). Under her leadership and man- agement, the college experienced growth and she helped transform library spaces, services, and collections. Ogbaa previously served as administrative librarian and head of reference and instructional ser- vices at Texas State Uni- versity (2004–08). Retirements Dianne Ford, coordinator of library elec- tronic resources and library liaison to the life science and health science departments, is retiring after 17 years at Elon University’s Belk Library. Ford led the planning team for the first Science Boot Camp Southeast for Librarians in 2014 and has served on the planning team and executive board for the STEM Librarianship in the North Carolina Li- brary Association.
