Kaser Named ACRL President–Elect
D avid Kaser was elected vice president 
and president-elect of ACRL and as­
sumed the duties of the office at the close 

of the San Francisco 
Conference. Dr. Kas­
er has been director 
of the Joint Univer­
sity Libraries in Nash­
ville since 1960. He

He received the MA

in English from University of Notre 
Dame in 1950, the AMLS in 1952, and 
the PhD in library science from Univer­
sity of Michigan in 1956. During his 
years at Michigan he worked half-time 
in the order departm ent of the library.

From 1952 to 1954 Dr. Kaser was 
serials librarian in Ball State University; 
from 1956 to 1959, chief of acquisitions 
in W ashington University libraries, and 
in 1959-60, assistant director of W ash­
ington University libraries.

Dr. Kaser became a member of the

ALA Council in 1965. He was chairman 
of the RTSD Acquisitions section in 
1961; and was assistant editor of LRTS, 
1958-62; chairman of ACRL University 
Libraries Section, 1962; and became 
editor of C R L in 1963. He has served as 
chairman of the South Eastern Library 
Association College and University Sec­
tion (1964–66) and chairman of the As­
sociation of Southeastern Research L i­
braries (1966). He was editor of the 
Missouri Library Association Quarterly, 
1958-60.

Dr. Kaser’s published works are
