Wherever necessary, information from the reports will be added to the minutes. Exhibits noted below were distributed with the docket or at the Board meetings. Members of the Board of Directors and guests introduced themselves. Mr. Bailey announced that the following material had been distributed to the mem­ bers attending the Board meeting: Inter- library cooperation statement; report of the ACRL Publications Officer, and report of the Planning and Action Committee’s first meeting. The Board confirmed two mail votes: (1) a proposal for “Investigation of Cur­ rent Practices of the Comprehensive Com­ munity College Library As It Relates to the Instructional Program,” (Exhibit IA), after discussion by Mrs. Alice Griffith; (2) a proposal of the “Slavic and East Euro­ pean Subsection for Affiliation with the American Association for the Advancement of Slavic Studies,” to be presented to ALA Council for approval. Both were approved by the Board. Mr. Humphry read the list of nominees for ACRL offices (Exhibit II), which had not been sent with the docket but was dis­ tributed at the meeting on January 9. The slate of nominees was accepted as read. Ralph McCoy, ACRL representative to PEBCO, read the PEBCO report calling at­ tention to various cooperative activities that had taken place in various ALA units and to gaps or shortcomings which were identi­ fied during the two-day session. T h e jo in t program will con cern interlibrary cooperation. T h e P lan ning and A ction C om m ittee fe lt it would not necessarily follow th at th e As­ sociation would relinquish its own pro­ gram. 2. W ith referen ce to F a th e r Jovian L a n g ’s proposal th at libraries b e encouraged to accep t A LA M em bership cards as bor­ rower registration, it was recom m ended that the A C R L Board retain th e status quo. 3. R egarding th e A C R L appointm ent o f one supernumerary junior m em ber to each of its com m ittees for a trial period of one year, in the absen ce o f sufficient indi­ cation of th e desirability of m aking this program perm anent, th e present program should b e continued until adequ ate in­ form ation has been accum ulated to enable proper evaluation o f the program.
