ACRL News Issue (B) of College & Research Libraries 3 2 6 /C&RL News ■ March 2001 P r e s e r v a t i o n N e w s Jane Hedberg CLIR p u b lish e s scie n ce su rv e y The Council on Library and Information Re­ sources (CLIR) has published Preservation Science Survey: An Overview o f Recent Devel­ opments in Research on the Conservation o f Selected Analog Library an d Archival Materi­ als. This report contains chapters about the decay, treatment, and storage o f paper, film and photographic materials, and magnetic tape. There is also a chapter about general preservation and a concluding chapter about trends and the research lacunae identified by the authors. Two appendices contain lists o f the research projects and the institutions in­ volved, arranged by country. Henk J. Porck, a conservation scientist at the Koninklijke Bibliotheek (National Library o f the Netherlands), and René Teygeler, a consultant to the KB, conducted the survey and wrote the report. CLIR asked the authors to survey the research done on preservation o f analog materials during the past five years, review trends, and identify gaps. CCI m o u n ts lib ra ry c a ta lo g The Canadian Conservation Institute (CCI) has mounted the catalog for its in-house profes­ sional library on its W eb site. The catalog contains more than 10,000 books and 400 journals about conservation and museology. It is searchable by author (personal and cor­ porate), title, subject, and keyword. The CCI library will provide books and videos from its collections to Canadian and American li­ braries through interlibrary loan. It will also supply photocopies o f chapters and articles to Canadian and international requestors, in com pliance with copyright law, if copies can not b e obtained elsewhere. C C A H A m o u n ts co n fe re n ce p ro c e e d in g s The Conservation Center for Art and Historic Artifacts (CCAHA) has mounted the proceed­ ings o f its conference, Architectural Records: Preserving and Managing the Documentation o f Our Built Environment, on its W eb site. The conference was held on May 3-5, 2000, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Co-sponsored by the National Park Service and the Athenaeum o f Philadelphia, it was designed to provide both theoretical and practical preservation in­ formation to professionals responsible for the care o f architectural records. The W eb site contains the text o f 25 lectures, as well as ab­ stracts o f the lectures and biographical infor­ mation about the speakers.
