E n d e a v o r’s V o y a g e r library m an agem en t system w ill serve as a platform fo r uniting library collection s w ith scientific content in Elsevier Science’s prim ary and sec on d ary publications and databases. W h e n asked w h y a successful c o m p a n y w o u ld ch o ose to be sold to Elsevier, E ndeavor CEO Jane Burke replied, “W h e n I lo o k at w h a t’s h a p p e n in g overall in in form ation and lo o k at w h at en d users are thinking and s e e ing, they have this ex p ecta tio n that they can find anything w ith o n e search. W hat I ’v e b een fe e lin g fo r the past y ea r or so as I ’v e talked to our custom ers is that I ’v e seen them in creasingly sp en d in g their effort and m o n e y on licensing content. She said the pricing, the operation , the offices, and the staff w o u ld stay the same.
