September 2019 473 C&RL News During the 2019 ALA Annual Conference Meeting in Washington, D.C., the ACRL Board of Directors met on June 22 and June 24. The Board met with the leaders of its four goal-area committees: Value of Academic Libraries, Student Learning and Information Literacy, Research and Scholarly Environment, and New Roles and Changing Landscapes to assess progress on the Plan for Excellence. With feedback from the Board, these committees will finalize their reports and develop their work plans for 2019–2020. The Board also received updates from the ACRL representative to the ALA Committee on Legislation, ARL Senior Director of Public Policy and General Counsel, liaison from the ALA Executive Board to ACRL, representa- tive from the Project Outcome for Academic ACRL Board of Directors’ actions, June 2019 Highlights of the Board’s Annual Conference meetings Libraries Task Force, ACRL representative on the Steering Committee on Organizational Effectiveness, and ACRL Division Councilor. The Board also received reports from the Academic Librarians Standards and Guide- lines Review Task Force, the ACRL 2019 Col- leagues Committee, and the ACRL Budget & Finance Committee, and reviewed its efforts on its core commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. Board members, whose service ended at the close of the 2019 ALA Annual Confer- ence—Cheryl A. Middleton, Beth McNeil, Lori J. Ostapowicz-Critz, and LeRoy Jason LaFleur—were recognized and thanked for their service. Education • Approved a resolution honoring the 20th anniversary of the ACRL Immersion Program. • Approved the appointment of Daisy Benson as the Immersion Facilitator Team coordinator for a two-year term beginning July 1, 2019. • Approved the appointment of Andrea Falcone as the Standards for Libraries in Higher Education Roadshow presenter co- ordinator for a three-year term beginning July 1, 2019. Publications • Confirmed the virtual vote to approve the Guidelines for Standardized Holdings Counts and Measures for Archival Reposito- ries and Special Collections Libraries. Member engagement • Approved the creation of the ACRL Project Outcome for Academic Libraries Editorial Board. • Renewed three groups: Access Services Interest Group, Contemplative Pedagogy Interest Group, and Technical Services Inter- est Group. • Confirmed virtual votes that: o Approved the ACRL Board of Directors proceedings from the 2019 Spring Board Virtual Meeting and the 2019 ALA Midwinter Meeting. Operations • Approved rescinding the ACRL Special Presidential Recognition Award. • Approved the FY20 budget with an additional $30,000 budgeted to sup- port equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives: o ACRL Revenues $2,572,017 o ACRL Expenses $3,499,930 o ACRL NET ($927,913) o Choice Revenues $2,679,271 o Choice Expenses $2,668,331 o Choice NET $10,940 • Confirmed the virtual vote to approve the Budget & Finance Committee’s recom- mendation to increase dues by $2 for regular members and $1 for retired members to keep up with inflation as indicated by the 2.6% increase in the HEPI index. The FY20 rates will be: o Personal members: $68 o Retired members: $44 Enabling Programs and Services Strategic goal areas will be supported by financial and operational planning, and will guide the development and implementation of programs and services that target education, advo- cacy, and member engagement. • Approved a new charge for the ACRL Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee. • Expanded the purpose of the ACRL Friends Advancement Fund to align with ACRL’s Core Commitment to Equity, Diver- sity, and Inclusion.
