ACRL News Issue (B) of College & Research Libraries 7 0 / C&RL News ■ February 1999 news I n t h e I like to use the February cover o f C&RL News to highlight Black History Month by se lecting artwork created by an African Ameri can artist or featuring an image of a well-known African American. This m onth I am pleased to present the delightful “Dance Composition” by Eldzier C onor from the New York Public Library’s Schòmburg Center for Research in Black Culture. It is part o f an exhibit at the Schòmburg that will remain on view through March 28,1999- The catalog for the exhibition is wonderful an d I encourage you to stop by should you find yourself in New York. I hope that academic libraries throughout the coun try celebrate Black History Month and ask that you share with me your experiences and ideas for celebrating so that I can print a variety in a forthcoming issue. It is also time to plan your celebrations for National Library Week, April 9-16, 1999. ALA President Ann Symons tells us about her theme and Linda Wallace encourages us to enter the ALA Photo contest (page 97). Also in this issue: Rob Withers and Jane Sharpe discuss how to incorporate Internet resources into instruction (page 75). Esther Grassian and Susan Clark re view information literacy resources available on the Internet (page 78). Jill Holman offers prac tical advice for lending digital cameras (page 83). Running an auction was not covered in my li brary school education, so you may appreciate the “how-to’s” Gary Thompson offers in “Go ing, going, sold for $20,000” (page 87). Denise Davis dares us to be leaders by sharing our en thusiasm about our profession and our work (page 95). Be an informed voter this spring by reading about the views o f ACRL candidates for presi dent, Pat Wand and Betsy Wilson (page 98). —Mary Ellen K.
