H appy N ew  Year! The beginning o f the new  
year is a go o d  time to  take stock a n d  reflect o n  
w h at w e  have d o n e  an d  w hat w e  h o p e  to do. 
Many o f you have m ade an d  ev en  k ep t som e 
N ew  Year’s resolutions. I h o p e  that yo u r reso­
lutions include continuing to challenge your­
self, k eeping u p  w ith w h at is going o n  in the 
field, a n d  grow ing professionally.

And to help you keep these resolutions, ACRL 
has planned one of its most exciting National 
Conferences to  date. Join your colleagues at 
ACRL’s 9th National Conference, April 8-11 ‚ 1999, 
in Detroit. You will b e  able to choose from more 
than 225 carefully selected research papers, pro­
grams, and discussion groups on such topics as 
the economics of information, distance learning, 
information literacy, scholarly communication, and 
information technology.
