Welcome to the March 2020 issue of C&RL 
News. Sustainability is an ongoing concern 
for many academic and research libraries. 
In this issue’s International Insights col-
umn, Madeleine Charney and Petra Hauke 
provide academic library perspectives on 
“Global action on the urgency of climate 
change.”

While the winter/spring terms are just hit-
ting full stride, it’s never too early to start plan-
ning for future outreach events. At Stephen F. 
Austin State University, librarians worked with 
instructors in the Forestry program to help 
create a learning community and introduce 
students to the library. Erica Lopez and Tina 
Oswald write about the project in their article 
“Taking root.”

Outreach across campus is the focus of 
the University of California-Irvine Libraries 
low-cost video program. Learn more about the 
exploits of Peter the Anteater in “He’s ready 
for his closeup.”

Finals can often be a stressful time for both 
students and library workers. Angeline Prichard 
and Susan Brazer discuss how the Salisbury State 
University Libraries worked to add a little fun, 
stress release, and outreach on their campus in 
their article “Finding the Finals Fairy.”

In this month’s Scholarly Communication 
column, Charlotte Roh and Vanessa Gabler 
examine a variety of case studies focusing 
on “Systematic barriers and allyship in library 
publishing.”

Make sure to check out the other features 
and departments this month, including a look 
at using “Critical appraisal” to teach informa-
tion literacy skills to STEM students, Internet 
Resources on “Instructional design” by Laura A. 
Sheets, and responses from the candidates for 
ALA vice-president/president-elect to questions 
from the ACRL Board of Directors, along with a 
list of ACRL members running for ALA Council 
in the upcoming election.
