Sarah Leeman is now online learning and web resources librarian at National Louis University Appointments Kim Sims has been appointed university archivist at The College of William and Mary’s Swem Library. Sims previously served as tech- nical services archivist for the Rubenstein Rare Book and Manuscript Library, managing institu- tional records and select manuscript collections, d e v e l o p i n g guidelines for the processing of electronic records, and curating ex- hibits. Sims also served as the archives assistant at Duke Univer- sity. Prior to joining the library, she was the fel- lowship training program coordinator/assistant to the chief of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Nutrition at Duke University Medical Center. As university archivist, Sims will be responsible for documenting the history of the university, assisting in the development of strategies to manage and preserve digital materials, and creating policies for management of electronic theses and dissertations. William H. Walters has been appointed executive director of the Mary Alice and Tom O’Malley Library at Manhattan College. He pre- viously held faculty and staff positions at Cornell University, St. Lawrence University, Millersville University, the Providence VA Medical Center, and Menlo College, where he served as dean of library services and professor of library and information science. John Wiswell has joined the faculty at Ap- palachian State University Libraries as health sciences librarian. Retirements Catherine L. Wilkinson, professor, has retired from the University Libraries at Appala- chian State University. Wilkinson had been at Appalachian State since 1982, when she joined the library faculty as head catalog librarian. Most recently, she served as network librarian for the Western North Carolina Library Network, leading the collaborative efforts of three librar- ies and institutions. Her prior positions include coordinator for access services, coordinator for information organization, and government documents librarian. Deaths Lisa Williams, a faculty member at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington’s (UNCW) William Madison Randall Library, has died. Williams began her tenure at UNCW as an instructional services /reference librarian in 2001. Most recently, she assumed the role of associate director, library re- search and service quality, and was a member of the library’s senior leadership team. Williams was an active member in the North Carolina Library Association as well as ALA. Some of her notable contributions to Randall Library include informa- tion literacy instruction, research services coordi- nation, assisting with expansion of the Learning Commons, reference collection management and development, and advocating for disability services. She also served as an academic advisor. Patricia A. Young, director of library systems at the City University of New York until her retire- ment in 2007, has died. Young began her career at the Charles Warren Center for American History at Harvard, followed by a position at Wilmington Institute (Public) Library in Delaware, after which she accepted the position of assistant librarian for technical at the Ohio Historical Society in Colum- bus. She began working at the Brooklyn College Library in 1980, fi rst as a cataloger and then as access services librarian, before moving to CUNY’s Central Offi ce of Library Services in 1987.
