Matthew Roberts has been appointed research librarian for English, Comparative A p p o i n t m e n t s Gerald W. Cloud has been appointed the Harry Ransom Center’s Carl and Lily Pforzheimer Curator of Early Books and Manuscripts at the University of Texas-Austin. Cloud will be responsible for overseeing the Ransom Center’s holdings of early books and manuscripts, including promoting access to, and use of, the collections and interpreting them for varied audiences. Prior to joining the Ransom Center, Cloud served as head librarian at UCLA’s William Andrews Clark Memorial Library, curator of literature at Co- lumbia University’s Rare Book and Manuscript Library, and most recently as an antiquarian bookseller at James Cummins Bookseller. Rina Elster Pantalony has been appointed director of the Copyright Advisory Office at Columbia University Libraries/Information Services. Pantalony is currently chair of the Standing Committee on Legal Affairs for the International Council of Museums. She is also a faculty member at New York University (NYU) Tisch School of the Arts, where she teaches courses on Copyright Law and Policy, and also serves as coordinator of Intellectual Property Projects for the NYU Department of Cinema Studies, Moving Image Archiving, and Preservation program. She previously served as chief IP counsel to the Library and Archives of Canada for ten years while an IP lawyer with the Department of Justice Canada, was director of Rights Management for a for-profit initiative of the Museum of Modern Art, and served as director of Copyright Policy at the Canadian Heritage Information Network. Sarah Wade joined the faculty at Camp- bell University as the assistant medical librarian in the Jerry Wallace School for Os- teopathic Medicine. Jeremy Whitt is now scholarly resources librarian at Pepperdine University Libraries. Jeanette Woodburn is now director for Library Advancement and Public Affairs at Pepperdine University Libraries. Retirements Annelle R. Huggins, associate dean of li- braries at the University of Memphis (UM), has retired. Huggins had been at UM since 1981, when she joined the library faculty as coordinator of technical services. She later served as associate director (1986–99), interim dean (1999–2000), and, most recently, as as- sociate dean since 2000. She held positions at Texas A&M University and the University of Oklahoma libraries prior to joining the UM faculty. Huggins has previously served as ALA Chapter Councilor for Tennessee (2000–06, 2008) and will continue to serve as executive director of the Tennessee Library Association, a position she has held since 2001. Jack Sulzer, senior associate dean for under- graduate and learning services, has retired from Penn State’s University Libraries after more than four decades of service. Sulzer’s career with the libraries began in 1972, when he became an assistant to the archivist in the Reference Archives. In 1979, he was ap- pointed state and local documents librarian and then patents and law librarian. Sulzer was appointed head of the general reference section in 1990. In 1998, he became the as- sociate dean of Campus College Libraries and was later promoted to senior associate dean of undergraduate learning services. At Penn State, Sulzer was a longstanding member of the Uni- versity Academic Leadership Forum, in the Offi ce of the Provost, and served on the Coor- dinating Council for Outreach and Cooperative Extension. In addition, he was on the board of directors of Collegian Inc., publisher of the student-run newspaper, The Daily Collegian. Within the libraries, Sulzer led a wide range of committees and groups, where his strength in consensus building saw the libraries success- fully transition through signifi cant technologi- cal change and administrative restructuring. Although retired, Sulzer will maintain a strong connection to the University Libraries in the capacity of librarian emeritus.
