Heijdra was previously the Chinese bibliographer and head of public services in the East Asian Library and has been with the university for 26 years. Lauren Pressley has been appointed director of University of Washington-Tacoma Library and associate dean of university libraries at the University of Washington Libraries. Tim Pyatt has been named dean of the Z. Smith Reynolds Library at Wake Forest Univer- sity. Pyett most recently served as the Dorothy Foehr Huck chair and head of the Eberly Family Special Collections Library at Pennsylvania State University. Before Penn State, Pyatt was at Duke University, where he was the university archivist in the Perkins Library. Prior to Duke, he was the director of the Southern Historical Collection and curator of manuscripts at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Celestina Savonius-Wroth has been appointed head librarian at the History, Philosophy, and Newspaper Library at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Savonius-Wroth joins the university with more than 20 years of experience as a librarian and researcher. She was the librar- ian for History, Religious Studies, and History and Philosophy of Science at Indiana University for 15 years. Earlier in her career in librarianship, she worked in the Indiana University Libraries’ reference department and conservation lab and the Monroe County (Indiana) Public Library, where she helped staff the Indiana Room. Savonius-Wroth is a historian of 18th-century Britain, with a focus on religious culture. At Indiana University, she received a New Frontiers Exploration Traveling Fellowship and a Bloom- ington Center for Eighteenth-Century Studies Dissertation Fellowship, both in support of her doctoral research. In addition, Savonius-Wroth is involved in many national and professional activities, including serving as chair of the ALA/ ACRL’s Philosophy, Religion and Theology Dis- cussion group and as RUSA Update’s History Section news editor. Ahmed Alwan has joined California State University-Northridge as research, instruction, and outreach librarian in the Oviatt Library. Tina Buck has joined Acquisitions and Col- lection Services as electronic resources services librarian at the University of Central Florida. Lindsay Cronk has been appointed collec- tions and online resources coordinator at the University of Houston. Joy Doan is now research, instruction, and outreach librarian at California State University- Northridge’s Oviatt Library. Jessica Huffman has been appointed Social Sciences librarian in the Business/SPEA Information Commons at Indiana University- Bloomington Libraries. Gabriella Karl-Johnson is now architecture librarian at Princeton University Library. Christian Kelleher has been named head of special collections at the University of Houston. Michelle Malizia has been appointed direc- tor of library services for health sciences at the University of Houston. Norris has joined the staff at the University of Central Florida as the libraries’ first scholarly communication librarian. Emily Vinson has been appointed audio- visual archivist at the University of Houston. Mari (Mea) Warren has been appointed natural sciences and mathematics librarian at the University of Houston. Eric White is now curator of rare books and special collections at Princeton University Library. Retirements Hal Mendelsohn, reference librarian at the University of Central Florida (UCF) Libraries, has retired. Medelsohn joined UCF as reference librarian in April 2001, after working almost six years at Louisiana State University-Eunice. In addition, Mendelsohn was the patents and trade- marks librarian for the UCF Libraries Patents & Trademarks Depository Library. Mendelsohn has been active in the library science profession, authoring articles in Reference Services Review and The Southeastern Librarian, and making presentations at such diverse venues as Council of Media Organizations, Alabama, Arkansas, and Kentucky Library Associations, Southeastern Library Association, and the Florida Chapter of the ACRL. Mendelsohn was recognized for his with the SELA Membership and Mentoring Committee and the fi rst recipient of the Hal D. Mendelsohn Award in 2012. He received the UCF Excellence in Librarianship award in 2014. Keith Stetson, collection development librar- ian in the DiMenna-Nyselius Library at Fairfi eld University, has retired after 25 years of service. Stetson previously held professional positions in acquisitions and collection development at University of Massachusetts-Amherst and West- ern Carolina University, and preprofessional positions at University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and Atticus Books in Connecticut. He was coordinator of the ACRL/NEC Collection Development Interest Group (1991–92) and was appointed to the Choice Editorial Board in 2009. After serving two 2-year terms, he was appointed chair through June 2014. Stetson was an ACRL Circle of Friends Member supporting professional development and an ACRL 75th Anniversary scholarship campaign donor. He served on the Connecticut Library Consortium Board (2005–09) and on the iCONN Database Committee (2011–13). He was a mentor in the ALA New Member Round Table program, and participated in the Elsevier Innovation Explorers Online Community, the EBSCO eBook Advi- sory Council, and Lyrasis Academic eContent and Collection Development and Management Advisory Groups. Stetson was a panelist at the June 2012 Springer e-Only Summit in Boston, and participated in the Springer Global Summit: Publisher to Library at the 2004 ALA Midwinter Meeting in Philadelphia. Deaths Mary George, senior reference librarian at Princeton University Library, has died. George worked at Princeton for 35 years. Steven Frederick Hanschu, who had served in various positions in public services at Emporia State University (ESU) over the past 36 years, has died. In 1972, Hanschu began working as a student assistant in ESU’s William Allen White Library until he was hired full time in 1979. Hanschu was known in the community for his love of Emporia history and advocating history preservation. In 1978 he founded Emporians for History Preservation, which later merged with the Lyon County Historical Society. He served on the historical society Board of Trustees for 34 years.
