Mischo, head of the Grainger Engineering Library Information Center, will be the inaugural holder of The Berthold Family Professorship in Information Access and Discovery at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. A p p o i n t m e n t s Steve Chudnick has been named director of the Bankier Library at Brookdale Com- munity College serving Monmouth County, New Jersey. David Gray has been appointed director for library services at the University of Mary’s Welder Library in Bismarck, North Dakota. Rhonda Huisman has been appointed di- rector of University Library Services for the Mother Teresa Hackelmeier Memorial Library at Marian University in Indianapolis. Before joining Marian University, Huisman was the associate dean for public services at Wichita State University and was assistant librarian for education at the Center for Teaching and Learning at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. Damon E. Jaggars has been appointed vice- provost and director of University Libraries and professor for the University Libraries at The Ohio State University. He previously served as associate university librarian for collections and services at Columbia Uni- versity Libraries/Information Services. Jaggars’ work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings, and his national editorial service includes board membership for portal: Libraries & the Academy, coeditor of a special issue of Evidence Based Library and Information Practice, and a stint as editor-in chief of the Journal of Library Administration. In addition, his professional service includes various leadership roles for ACRL and the Taiga Forum. Jim Kuhn has been named associate director and Hobby Foundation librarian at the University of Texas-Austin’s Harry Ransom Center, beginning April 1, 2016. Kuhn currently serves as the University of Rochester’s Joseph N. Lambert and Harold B. Schleifer director of Rare Books, Spe- cial Collections and Preservation at River Campus Libraries and as assistant dean for special collections and preservation. He also oversees medieval studies at the university’s Rossell Hope Robbins Library. Prior to his position at the University of Rochester, Kuhn worked at the Folger Shakespeare Library for more than 16 years, overseeing and leading collection information services, technical services, and cataloging. He also advocated for and led the Folger into Web archiving and a digital preservation network. Beth Canzoneri has been named refer- ence/instruction librarian at the University of Idaho. Jennie Correia is now social sciences librarian at Barnard College Library and Academic Services. Ward Graderson Smith has been ap- pointed assistant professor serving as systems and emerging technologies librarian at Long Beach City College in Long Beach, California. Annah Hackett is now resident librarian at the University of Idaho. Ben Hunter has been appointed associ- ate dean of library services at the University of Idaho. Gesina Phillips has joined Gumber Library at Duquesne University as digital scholarship librarian. Bradley H. Short, Washington University in St. Louis’s music librarian and head of departmental libraries, has been promoted to associate university librarian. Evan Williamson is now digital infrastruc- ture librarian at the University of Idaho. Christina Wissenger has been named Penn State’s University Libraries health sci- ences liaison librarian. Maxine Wright is now supervisory librar- ian/head of collections retrieval and on-site, Constituent Support Services Section, CALM Division at the Library of Congress. Deaths Billy C. Beal, associate vice-president for Learning Resources at Meridian Commu- nity College in Meridian, Mississippi, has died. Beal served Meridian Community College for 39 years and was considered one of the state’s most respected learn- ing resources officers. He was an active member of ACRL’s Community and Junior College Libraries Section, Chapters Council representative for the state of Mississippi, Social Responsibilities Roundtable member, GLBTR Roundtable member, and a member of ALA’s Black Caucus. A lifelong member of the Mississippi Library Association, Beal served as president of the Black Caucus Roundtable. Peggy Morrison, librarian for access ser- vices at Hendrix College in Conway, Arkan- sas, has died. Morrison was a member of ACRL throughout her lengthy career, which began at the Library of Congress and ended at Hendrix College. She also worked at the University of North Carolina’s medical library, the University of Central Arkansas, the University of Arkansas for Medical Sci- ences Library, and the National Information Standards Organization. Karen E. Patterson, librarian at the Uni- versity of Maryland (UMD) for 20 years, has died. Her career at UMD was spent working with the College of Information Studies/iSchool, where she helped guide several generations of new librarians and information professionals. Patterson served as head of public services for Point Park College library in Pittsburgh for seven years before moving to the School of Library and Information Science Library at the Univer- sity of Pittsburgh. Patterson relocated to Baltimore, Maryland, in 1988, where she worked for the Enoch Pratt Free Library. At Pratt, Patterson managed the Information for Every Resident community outreach and referral program, helping to connect patrons in underserved communities with the services they needed. Patterson re- turned to academia in 1995 as the director of the Information Resource Center (later the Paul Wasserman Library) at the UMD College of Information Studies, where her work focused on helping to educate the next generation of librarians and infor- mation professionals. Patterson received the College of Information Studies’ James Partridge Award in 2005, in recognition of her commitment to being “a dedicated professional and role model for librarians of the twenty-first century.”
