T h e s e p a p e r s , w h i c h a r r i v e d in f o u r t e e n l a r g e cases, c o v e r the y e a r s 1844 t o 1890 and deal p r i m a r i l y w i t h his activities as a p r o f e s s i o n a l p o l i t i c i a n , a l t h o u g h t h e r e -s s o m e p e r s o n a l m a t e r i a l as w e l l .
