Thirdly, is right necessary as well for the Borrower as the Lender, whereby the one may know how much Interest be should pay, and the other what to receive; and consequently neither of them do, nor suffer injury therein. All which are plainly expressed by diverse examples, in the next ensuing leaves. To conclude, by the same Table you may value all Money, bargains for Lands, Leases, Annuities, Pensions, Rents in present possession, or in Reversion with other Contracts, by the Gain or Loss thereof, after the Rate of 8 li. per cent. The same Table explained by example. THis Table as you see contains 4 Columns: The first towards the left hand is the number of Years, for which a sum of Money is lent or forborn, beginning at 1 and ending at 21 and noted at the top, Years. The second Column shows how much Money ought to be received for 1 l. set at Interest, or forborn for any number of years under 21. And the third shows how much must be received for 2 li. and so of the rest. The Explanation and Answer to the former 3 Questions. 1 By the first Question is known how much Money, with the Interest, and Interest upon Interest, any sum of money will amount unto, being put forth or forborn, for any number, or term of years. As if it were required how much money ought there to be received for 1 li. at the end of 7 Years set out at Interest upon Interest. First, I seek out the principal in the head of the Table, to wit, 1 li. and secondly, the Years in the side of the Table, so right against this 7 years, and right under 1 li. I find 1 li 14 s 2 d. and so much aught there to be received at the said end of 7 years. In like manner, if 3 li. had been set at Interest (for the said term of 7 years. The Interest and principal of the said 3 li. would amount unto 5 li. 2 s. 9 d. Moreover, if 50 li. were put at Interest for 12 years, according to the former directions, I seek 50 l. in the head of the Table, and 12 years in the side of the Table, so right against this 12, and directly under 50 l. I find 125 l. 28 s. and so much doth the Interest, and principal of 50 l. amount unto, being set at interest for 12 years. And thus of all others: Note that if the principal proposed be not found in the head of the Table, take two Numbers there that will make it, and work as before. Secondly, by the second Question is known how much any Rent, or annuity will amount unto being forborn, or behind, for any term, or number of years. As if you would know what 7 l. Annuity, Rent, or Debt, being forborn, or behind unpaid for 5 years will amount unto. I first seek out this principal 7 l. in the head of the Table, and unto this 7 l. I add all the several sums which stand against the first four years, to wit— And it makes in all 41 li. 1 s. 2 d. And so much doth 7 li. Annuity, or Rend amount unto, acounting Interest 7 li. 0 s. 0 d. 7 11 2 8 03 3 8 16 3 9 10 5 41 li. 1 s. 2 d. upon Interest being forborn 5 years. Moreover, if a Rent, or Payment of 40 li. be forborn for 5 years, and it were required how much there ought to be Received at the end of that Term: Unto this 40 li. I add all the several 40 li. 0 s. 0 d. 43 04 0 46 13 1 50 07 9 54 08 4 234 13 4 sums, which are against the first four years, to wit which makes in all 234 li. 13 s. 4 d. and so much aught there to be received at the end of 5 years: and so of any other, etc. Note that if a Rent or Annuity be not found in the head of the Table, as admit it were a Rent of 47 li. behind for 5 years. First I part it into two parts, which admit 40 and 7. Secondly, I seek what 40 li. annuity is worth, forborn 5 years, which according to the former direction would be 234 li. 13 s. 4 d. the worth of that Annuity. Secondly, I seek in the like manner 7 li. and find it to be 41 li. 1 s. 2 d. which two sums set together makes 275 li. 14 s. 6 d. and so much is 47 li. Rent, or annuity being forborn 5 years, etc. 3 By the 3 question is known what any Rent or Annuity is worth in ready money, being to continue, or endure for any time, or term proposed. As admit I have a Rent, or yearly Pension of 7 l. per-Annum, to endure for 5 years, and am desirous to sell it for ready money. First, I seek the worth of this yearly Receipt, or Rend for the said 5 years, according to the directions in the second Question, which I find to be 41 li. 1 s. 2 d. Secondly, right against the 5 years in the Tabel, I seek for this 41 li. 1 s. 2 d. but finding it not, I take the next less sum against the said 5 years, which will be 29 li. 7 s. 8 d. and right over it li. s. d 41 1 2 li. s. d Sub. 29 7 8 20 0 0 Rest 11 13 6 Sub 10 5 7 7 0 0 Rest 1 7 11 0 18 8 The value in ready money 27 18 8 in the head of the Table I see 20 li. which I note down in a void place, and also the said 29 li. 7 s. 8 d. one against another, as here you see. Thirdly, I Subtract the said 29 li. 7 s. 8 d. from the aforesaid 41 li. 1 s 2 d. and there remains 11 li. 13 s. 6 d. which I seek (or the nearest to it) likewise in the Table against the former 5 Years and find nearest unto it 10 li. 5 s 7 d. and over it in the head of the Table 7 li. This 7 li. place down also under the 20 li. and against the said 10 li. 5 s. 7. d. Now taking this 10 li. 5 s. 7 d. from the former remainder 11 li. 13 s. 6 d there remains 1 li. 7 s. 11 d. Lastly, I seek this last remainder in the Table against the former 5 Years, and find the nearest unto it 1 li. 9 s. 3 d. and at the head of the Table 1 li. which is greater than the last Remainder 1 li. 7 s. 11 d. by 1 s 4 d. Therefore it being taken from the said 1 li. in the head of the Table, there remains 18 s. 8 d. This being added unto the former 20 l. and 7 l. makes in all 27 l. 18 s. 4 d. And so much is such a Rent, or yearly pension of 7 l. in ready money worth, to endure for 5 years to come. Moreover, according to the same direction, you shall find that a Lease of 40 li. per Annum to endure for 5 years, to be sold presently for ready money, is worth 159 l. 16 s. 8 d. And so of all others in the like kind. By the same order you may know the increase of any sum, greater than is in the said Table. FINIS.
