 fed in the hospitals at Richmond and Petersburg With 
 nil the alleviations that kindness can bestow, their suf- 
 ferings must still be great. 
 
 The Government, and the people in these cities, ar 
 Idoing all in their power to meet the demands upoi 
 [them; but they need help from all quarters. 
 
 Much has been done by the good people of Guilfor 
 kind the adjoining Counties ; but much more is stil 
 called for,and will be cheerfully rendered. From Pro 
 Sterling, who has returned from Richmond, we 
 [that donations of the following articles arc- 
 needed. 
 
 Under Clothing, Cotton Socks, Towels, clean whit« 
 Linen or Cotton Rags, Bandages. Chickens. ISuHc 
 Eggs, Vegeta hies that will bear transportation J Ion* t 
 Soap, Brandy. Wine, and Feather Pillows. 
 
 Upwards of 3.000 North Carolinians were wound 
 fed in the late battles before Richmond,and hundreds o 
 them besides the sick still linger in the hospitals an 
 call upon us to contribute to their comfort. 
 
 Besides donations. lam authorized bv the Govcrno 
 of the State to purchase any of the above articles, an 
 to forward them to Richmond in a car appropriated t 
 that purpose,and in charge of a special messenger Iron 
 our own community free of all expense,
