Brigade and other Commissaries who make sales to officers, will use the money thus obtained to make prompt payment of the commutation of rations due furlough men, or other soldiers whose rations are due, and may, according to the Eegulations, be commuted within their respective brigades or districts, at the rate of thirty-three cents per diem. The ac- counts must state the length of time, date, amount, and circumstances under which the commutation is made, to be certified by the commanders of companies or commissioned officers under whose orders the soldier was at the time the rations became due. Regimental Commissaries having funds in their hands, and without opportunity to disburse as above authorized, will turn it over to Brigade or Post Commissaries. % L. B. NORTHROP, Commissary General.
