A- Richmond, November 15. 1864, The following Regulations are to be observed in making appli- cation for renewal, or duplicates of lost Certificates of Stock. Drafts and Certificates of Deposite for stock or bonds r All applications made to the Treasury for renewal of Certifi- cates of Stock, Drafts and Certificates of Depoaite for stock or bonds, lost or destroyed, must he accompanied by the following- documents : 1. A statement on oath or affirmation by rtie applicant, .sjjowing- the time, place, and all other cir«un>stunees attending the loss or destruction of the certificate, with its number, date, amount, the- cate of interest it bears, the time t<> wUich iutorest, if any, hjiw been paid, in whose favor it was issued, when made payable, toge- ther with every Other particular relating to it, within the know- tedge of the applicant. 2. An instrument ir. writing, to be signed by the applioaiit, with two sureties, reciting the particul»\^rs herein before specified, by which such applicant and his sureties shall jointly and >everally H^ree to pay to any person who may establish a valid claim to tha certificate so alleged to have been lost or destroyed, the full value thereof, on dema"tad, with interest until paid, and also t<> pay tho Confederate States any sum which shall appear to have been erro- neously paid to such claimant, pursuant to the said application, with interest until paid. Such instrument is to be executed in the presence of a Judge or District Attorney of the Confederate States, or a Judge of a Court of Record of any State, by whom the suffi- oiency of the sureties, in double the amount claimed, must bo certified. 3. A copy of a public advertisen»ei\t of the loss or destruction of a certificate made bj the party in a newspaper published at or near the place of such loss or destruction, ac«orapanied by the affidavit of the printer or publisher of the same, that the said advertisement had been inserted in the said paper for six consecu- tive v^reeks.
