COME FROM TUILERIES Lovers of last-century Philadelphia, andj; of the elegance, taste and distinguishedD charm which were characteristic of the!.', people of the old regime, and their homes,!' will have the fullest opportunity to steeph themselves in their pet subject during this!, entire week, when the furniture and paint-B ings from three well-known estates willf be sold at auction. Three galleries are crowded with superb! old mahogany, genuine pieces, not repro-B ductions. There are sideboards, dining 1 ; and serving tables, bureaus and dressers and bedsteads. There is a set of eight jj superb Hepplewhite dining-room chairs, C with their shield-shaped backs, and the f choice “Prince of Wales feather” back, | carved, a s only the old English wood- jj carvers could do it. with infinite love for i'| the grain and color of the wood and for I every detail of design. There is an in¬ laid mahogany folding-top toilet table, j with, a lower drawer to--hold the basin, j soap, bottles and glasses, and a shut¬ down mirror, pincushion, pin and trinket compartments and jewel boxes atop. And there Is a magnificent sideboard, with panels of splendid color and graining, on which stand two knife boxes of mahogany of the rare oblong shape. These are all part of the estate of Major David Lenox, who represented America at the Court of St. James in the early part of the last century. There is a set of twelve Individual engraved wine coolers, of a kind seldom seen. They are round, five inches across, and were de¬ signed to be packed with ice and to hold Individual bottle at the roystering.
