A little child, who, from the mouth of its instructor, has learned the two fore- going Sections, we hope is now able to spell so well as with a little help to read, as it goes on, the following verses, which are all taken from the New Testament. The sooner a little child is taught to search the Scriptures the better. The humble, docile state of infancy is so cal- culated for receiving the pure milk of the Gospel, that no time should be lost in administering the heavenly nourishment, before the pride of human reason leads the poor sinner to reject that which alone can prepare him for everlasting FOR A LITTLE CHILD. 19 life. The little child should now have a New Testament put into its hands, and each verse pointed out to it, and mark- ed for it as it goes on. SECTION III. 40. Where was our Lord Jesus Christ horn ? In Bethlehem of Judea: for thus it is written by the prophet. Matt. ii. 5. 41. Who came to Mary, the mother of our Lord, and told her she should have a son?
