State of Connecticut BY HIS EXCELLENCY JOHN H. TRUMBULL GOVERNOR A # rur lantafi ult º when its form and use were first author- ===º ized by Congress. The anniversary of that occasion is a fitting day on which to do particular honor to this symbol of our national institutions. I therefore designate Monday, the fourteenth day of June next, as 3Flag ſlau and direct that on that day the national colors be displayed from all public buildings and that suitable exercises be held in the schools of the State. The Flag is the visible emblem of the great- ness of our country and of the high purposes which have made it great. It has been the inspi- ration for useful living and glorious dying. It has never known defeat or dishonor. In studying it, we learn much of the history of our own people; in revering it, we pay just due to the highest type of civilization and to the heroism and sacrifice which have made that civilization possible. Citizenship under such a Flag is surely a source of pride; we must not lose sight of the fact that it is also a most solemn responsibility. HE National Standard of the United States came into being on June fourteenth, 1777, Given under my hand and seal of the State at the Capitol, in Hartford, this second day of June, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and twenty-six and of the independence of the United States the one hundred and fiftieth. >4 ºzºc, By His Excellency’s Command: Secretary. 8ļ60 70160 G 106 8 | } N\75)|HOI'W HO Å LISHEAINT
