THE CLERGY-HOUSE ASSOCIATION, OF SALUDA, NORTH CAROLINA, was organized under the laws of the State of North Carolina in 1893. The object of the Association is to afford a restful and healthful summer home to such of the Ministers of the Church and their families as live in hot or malarial climates, who need change and more bracing atmosphere. It is the desire of the Association to give rest and change to those Ministers who, by reason of limited means, small salaries or sickness, are unable to travel or go to expensive resorts, and the Missionaries of the Church are to be first considered. We own seven and three-fourths acres of land in Saluda, N. C, beautifully situated, and we aim to build additional plain houses, furnish them simply, and offer them, rent free, each summer, to Ministers of the Southern Dioceses and Jurisdictions who need rest and change. The land has been fully paid for, and the first of the cottages, which the design contemplates, has been built, finished and occupied seven summers by different Ministers and their families, representing four Southern Dioceses. By resolution of the Legal Trustees, it is declared that the Minister accept- ing their hospitality is not thereby under any obligation to give his services to the Church of the Transfiguration at Saluda. We wish to express our cordial thanks to those who have already con- tributed, and the Board of Trustees presents this, its earnest plea, to every reader of this page, for aid that it may add other cottages to this Clergy- Home in the Mountains. If those friendly to the undertaking will aid this work generously, we shall ere long be in a position to bring succor and relief, every year, to at least a few of our Clergy and their families. We sug- gest that any Diocese, Parish or individual might erect a building, and invite correspondence with the President, who will gladly give all information. To make known the work of the Clergy-House Association, and the offer of the summer home, this leaflet shall be distributed in the Dioceses interested, and Ministers are invited to make application to the President ; but in every case the request must be accompanied by a letter of approval from the Bishop, with his personal endorsement. The occupant of the Clergy-House shall be selected from the Dioceses in rotation, as far as possible, and this leaflet will be mailed in April of each year to the Ministers of the Diocese, whose time it is to use the House. Applications should be made prior to the first of May. To insure the House being occupied all of each summer, three applications will be considered, and should one Minister and his family he obliged to leave, the second or third applicant will be notified that the House is ready for his occupancy. In order the more fully to reach its aim, of helpfulness to the Clergy, the Association offers twenty-five dollars to meet the personal traveling expenses of the Minister accepting its hospitality. It is understood that the use of the cottage is intended for those, only, whose dependence is upon their "living of the Gospel," and preferably the Missionaries of the Church. The Woman's Auxiliary of the Association has special charge of the House, and its members are always ready to aid the Minister and his family, so that they may enjoy the benefits to be derived from the salubrious atmosphere, and be able to return to their Master's work strengthened in soul and body. The time appointed for the Annual Meeting of the Association is the second Monday in August of each year. All Trustees and members of the Association are requested to attend, and all interested in the Association are invited to be present, and will be cordially welcomed. The initiation fee for members is 25 cents, and the annual dues 50 cents. Dues, or donations, can be paid to the Treasurer, or other member, and will be securely placed and expended by the Treasurer, on approval by the President or Executive Committee. Correspondence in regard to the enterprise will be gladly and promptly attended to by the President or the Secretary and Treasurer. REV. EDMUND N. JOYNER, President, Tryon, N. C. HENRY B.
