THE thanks of all who are interested in the preserva
tion of parish records are due to the Rev. Reuben
Evans, Rector of Llandinabo, for his kindness in per
mitting the publication of the Registers of Llandinabo
and Pencoyd.
In regard to Harewood, it may be well to mention that
the chapel, with the other possessions of the Knights of
St. John in that parish, passed into private hands at the
Dissolution. During long periods no chaplain was ap
pointed, and the inhabitants were dependent on the
neighbouring clergy for the rites of the Church.

A man child, aged six months or thereabouts, being
privily and in the night season conveighed into an out
house of John Willim, within the prsh. of Llandinabo,
and there left, was brought into the Church June 26, 1634,
and then there openly baptized in the face of the con
gregation by the minister in this manner, viz., If thou
be not baptized alreadie, John, I baptize thee in the
name of the Father, and of the Sonne, and of the Holy
Ghost, Amen.

Memorandum. — That Philip Andros, one of the
parishoners of Landinabo, at his own cost and charges,
provided a new pulpit clothe, at the price of xiiii shillings,
and gave and delivered it to the use of the Church the
10th daie of November, 1633, himselfe and Wm. Taylor

Mem. that I received of Wm. Andros, of Llandinabo,
Jan. 6, 1635, the sum of 6s. 8d. for the burial of Joan, his
wife, in the Channcell there.
Mem. that I received of John Andros, executor of the
last will and testament of his father, Philip Andros, 13J. 4^.,
for the burialls of his mother Jane, and his father, Philip
Andros, in the channcell of Landinabo, which sum of
13J. Ofd. I received June 19th, 1637. E. Tompkins, Rector.
Mem. that a terrier of all the titles and other profitts
and emoluments of right belonging to the parsonage of
Landinabo was made, published, and sealed by the parson
and parishoners there, June 24, 1637, and one part thereof
transmitted unto the Bishop's Registry, and the other parte
remaining with the [papers and parchments] laid up in the
chest in the channcell wherein the register book is kept.

Mem. that the above-named Philip Andros, by his last
will did bequeath the summe of 3 pounds to the poor of
Landinabo in haec verba : " I give 3 pounds to the poor of
Landinabo, to be disposed of for their best advantage at
the discretion of my executor." The executor nominated
in the sd will was his son, Wm. Andros. Ita est E. Tomp
kins. Mar. 14. Car. 10. A.D. 1634.
By virtue of a Statute made and enacted 5 Eliz. for the
enabling sick persons to eat flesh for the recovery of their
health upon dayes and in times prohibited, know all men
that I, Ely Tompkins, of Landinabo, in the county of
Hereford, clerk and parson there, have given and graunted
and by these present do give and graunt under Philip
Andros, of Landinabo, aforesaid, gent, being sick and
infirm in body (as I am informed by his chirurgian or
physician, and as I am well persuaded of myself) licence
as far forth as the said Statute doth enable me, to eate
flesh for the recovery of his health during the time of his
sickness and infirmity, provided that if his said sickness
shall continue above the space of eight dayes next after the
date above written, the said Philip Andros shall cause this

present licence to be registered in the church booke of
Landinabo according to the form of the Statute. In
witness whereof I, the said Ely Tompkins, have hereunto
putt my hand the daie and year above written. E.

written was registered in the church-book of Landinabo,
March 22, 1634, in the presence of John Willim, church
warden, by me, E. Tompkins, parson.
Be it known unto all men by these presents that I, Ely
Tompkins, of Landinabo, clerk and parson there, by virtue
of a Statute made and enacted 5 Elizabeth, for enabling
sick persons to eat flesh for the recovery of their health
upon daies and in times prohibited, have given and graunted
and by these presents do give and graunt, as far forth as
the Statute doth enable me, unto David Furber, of the
parish of Harewood, joiner (being the next parish to
Landinabo aforesaid, which parish is also at this time
destitute of a minister) licence to have flesh dressed in his
house onlie for himself to eat for the better recovery of
his health (being now of my certayn knowledge sick of a
fever) in the time of Lent, and on all other daies prohibited
during the time of the said sickness, so as the said David
Furber doe cause this licence to be registered according to
the form of the said Statute. In witness whereof I, Ely
Tompkins, have hereunto putt my hande and seale this
27th Feb., 14 Car., by the grace of God sovraigne of Eng
land, Scotland, France, and Ireland, 1638. This lycence
for the above-named David Furbur, was thus registered
March 8th, 1638. By me, E. Tompkins, parson of
Landinabo. A.D. 1662. Mem. that I, Rd- Carleis, parson of Landi
nabo, received of Mistress Elynor Andrewes, widow, March
24th, the sum of 6s. 8d. for the buriall of her husband, Mr.
Wm. Andrewes, in the chancell there.
A.D. 1662. Mem. that I, Rd- Carleis, etc., received Mar.
26, the sum of 6s. 8d. of Mr. Philip Andrews, for the buriall
of his wife, Mrs. Sybill Andrewes, in the chancell.

Mem. In 1788 a cottage was erected in Landinabo,
near the great elm at Cross Colloe, on the North East
corner of Townpit field, part of Landinabo estate, the
property of John Hoskins, clerk, let by lease to John
Pearce ; the expense of building which said cottage
amounted to ^14 1 is. 4d., which was paid by the sd.
J. Hoskins to the sd. J. Pearce, who had superintended the
building. Now these presents testify that the sd. J. Pearce

agrees to pay yearly to the sd. J. Hoskins on Feb. 2
the sum of 155. as rent for the sd. cottage during the
continuance of the term of his present lease of Landinabo,
(& both) have signified their assent by setting their hands

Aug. 31, 1779. This day was taken a survey of the
boundaries of Landinabo by the rector and several
parishioners, among whom was John Rogers, who went
round the prsh. on a like occasion 38 years ago, and
on each survey the road leading from Cross Colla to
Lanwarne was left out of the prsh. of Landinabo as
not being within its limits. J. Hopkins, rector.
The coppice belonging to Pennypitt, and situate in
Landinabo, was felled in the winter of 1789-90.
Mem. that the Silver Paten was presented by Mrs. Eliz.
Rogers, of Broomey Close, to the Church of Landinabo,
and first applied to the sacred use on the Feast of St.

gave by his last will to the poor of the parishes following
in these words : " I give to the poor people of the parishes
of Sellack, Hentland, King's Caple, Llanwarne, Orcoppe
and Much Dewchurch a yearly rent of 20s. to everie
parish, And to the poor of Llandinabo and Pencoid 10s.
to everie parish, payable for ever out of one farm lying
in the parish of Sellack, known by the name of the
Whitehouse in Baysham — the said yearly bequest of 20$'.

wardens for the time being, and by them twice distributed
in the year by equal portions, viz., against the Feasts of
Easter and Christmas yearly for ever. And my will is that
the said payments of 20s. and ioj. to the poor of the
severall parishes shall be made at the Feast of All Saints
that shall happen next after my decease. And I hartilie
desire that if there shall be any neglect of payment by
those to whom I shall dispose of the lands, then such

MEM. — That it was then agreed, concluded, and con
descended, to by and between Thos. Morse, yeoman, and
James Roberts, yeoman, both of Pencoid, with the joint
consent and attestation of the Minister and some of the
chief parishioners — that is to say that the sd. Thos. Morse
and James Roberts do exchange their railes being parts of
the boundaries of Pencoid churchyard, viz., rails on the
West part of the Tower consisting of the measure of 50
foot and belonging to a tenement formerly called White-
Wall now in the occupation of the sd. Thos. Morse, which
he doth by these presents transfer and conveigh to James
Roberts for that his the sd. James' part on the South side
of the church, containing about 78 foot, formerly and now
belonging to the sd. James his estate, late called the Old-
Hall (excepting and always reserved to each of them and
their respective families and posterities their seat-places in
the church as formerly used). To have and to hold to the
sd. Thos. Morse, his heirs and successors, the rails on the
south side, and to the sd. James Roberts the rails situate on
the west — each part exchanged to be repaired and fenced,
as to either of them belongeth, for the securing of the
churchyard. In witness whereof they have put their hands :

Caroline his wife, was born and privately bap. in Ireland
and christened at the age of about 7 months, at Pool
Cottage, the residence of Sir H. Hoskyns in Much Dew
church, on Tuesday, July 11, 1809, by me J. Higgins.
