Some of these men and women are putting in as much as 70 or 80 hours a week in the service of the community. On September 3rd it was announced that fire-guard duties would become compulsory for women as well as men. Long hours are Worked without grumbling and night shifts are faced with cheerful determination. For the workers of the United Kingdom know that it will be deeds and not words that will hasten the end of this conflict. To-day the United Kingdom is a country stripped for war.
